Often, youth of low-income families are short of guidance, facilities, and finances. Institutional homes often bring up children who are either orphaned, abandoned, or children whose families are unable to bring them up due to low income. IDFC FIRST Bank invited children of these institutions to visit facilities, supported by CSA. Usually, childcare institutions keep children till they turn adults. After this, it is called the After Care Program. As part of our FIRST IMPACT initiative, our Mumbai office welcomed the bright youth of the CSA After Care Program for a special mentorship session. Our MD and CEO interacted with them and understood from them their lives, where they live after they turn 18, their facilities, how they will improve their skills, how they will earn their livelihood, and how they will live an independent life, and so on. They have a hard life. They usually don’t have the tools like laptops and are short of guidance. But they have great spirit and want to pursue something. The youth were pursuing courses on beautician, ITI courses, bartending, chef, electrician, nursing, law, micro business etc. With some support and guidance, they can start earning an independent living. Our HR and business teams met these young adults and took them through personalised counselling and guidance. The program has supported youth transitioning from institutional care into the real world. We provide them scholarships to be able to pursue courses that enable them to get skilled to earn a sustainable income.
